Sumatra (FSC) Shutters

Sumatra Shutters are manufactured from high grade White Teak which is fully certified by The Forest Stewardship Council. The FSC is an organisation that controls the management of the world’s forests and ensures these timbers are responsibly sourced.

These are our top range shutters and as you would expect from the highest grade product there are a lot of extra options available.

The Sumatra range offers a choice of twenty eight painted and twenty stained colours as standard with the additional option, at an extra cost, of custom colours.

Dulux and Farrell & Ball colours can be matched using our Colour Code or Colour Match options. If you would like your shutters in a particular shade then just supply us with the relevant code or a swatch (approx 50mm x 50mm) and we will do the rest. Your shutters will be beautifully finished in the colour of your choice.

As well as the plantation louvred shutters the Sumatra range of shutters gives you the option of Shaker style solid panels. These Victorian style shutters are a modern replacement for the originals and are only available in stained finishes.

Special shapes including arches, triangles and circles are available as well as the standard square and rectangular.

The Sumatra range also offers smaller louvre size. The 32mm louvre is exclusive to this range, adding to the 47, 64, 89 and 114mm louvre sizes available on other materials. As with the 47mm louvres the silent tilt is not available on the new 32mm louvres.

Many windows with a shallow recess or a sash window with a face fit may benefit from the smaller louvres to avoid them being restricted by handles or catches.

The lightweight quality of Sumatra shutters means that larger windows and doors can be catered for without the fear of them sagging due to excess weight on the hinges. This is why most other materials have limitations on panel widths. Each panel in the Sumatra range can be up to 850mm wide. This lightweight property of Sumatra shutters also allows for multi-fold door configurations with up to four doors mounted on each side of the shutter frame giving a total of eight panels in one shutter.

If you are feeling that little bit indulgent or you have a window that is difficult to reach that you would like to have covered with a shutter there is an upgrade option of remote control operation. This is only available on the 64, 89 and 114mm louvres and again is exclusive to the Sumatra shutters.

The Sumatra White Teak shutter range is our premium product but unlike some hardwoods, like Cedar, White Teak is totally odourless and will certainly be a stunning addition to any home whether they are painted or stained in one of our standard colours or you choose a custom colour to perhaps blend in with you current decor.
